General Questions

The studio is available to members 24/7 (provided there are no classes/workshops happening). The Gallery has set hours that are meant to be a guideline. Because I am the sole proprietor, my personal life may interfere on occasion with the regularly scheduled hours. It is best to call before starting out to the gallery to be sure it is open.

As students and members needs increase, then will the specialized classes and workshops. Sunday workshops are offered throughout the year on- and off-site as the public desires. Summer camps for 8-16 year-olds are offered as the community demands.

We offer beginner to advanced classes on the wheel or hand build as well as children’s camp and various workshops on- and off-site.

Private and semi-private lessons are available at an hourly rate. This price includes instruction only. Clay and glazing are extra.

Personalized group classes and workshops can be made available with a minimum of 3-4 (depending on the instructor).

Unfortunately, we can only allow clay into the studio that we know is safe for our kilns. The only way to be sure, is to only allow clay that is purchased through us to be used. The bisque fee is included in your purchase

Cash is always welcome and can be paid in person at the studio during normal business hours. We also accept Venmo, PayPal, and personal checks. For added convenience, we accept card payments. However, a 3% processing fee will be added to any transaction made with this type of payment.

Active military, full time students, & seniors (65+) get 10% off memberships only.

We are too small to offer traditionally paid positions. I am always open to volunteers and one active internship at a time. I do offer pay for instructors who teach classes or workshops.

Questions about Classes and Workshops

Each class is four sessions long. Each class typically run one day a week for 4 consecutive weeks. Each session is approximately 2 hours. The total price for the 4 week class is $125.

Workshops are priced based on an individual itinerary.

Classes and workshops are all inclusive. All that you need to complete 4-8 small pieces is included in the price of each class. *More advanced classes may be fewer pieces and will be determined during class. It is possible to complete more pieces than outlined for each class at an additional expense.

No less than 3 (depending on instructor) and no more than 6 per class.

Beginner class are meant for just that, beginners. No experience is necessary.

Minimum age is 8 years for for hand build class and 12 years for wheel classes. *Workshops may have a different age criteria.

I will occasionally schedule daytime classes for home schooled students as well as summer camps. In the future, I hope to offer Saturday or Sunday classes. These will be need based.

If a class is full, I recommend you getting on a wait list ASAP. If enough student get on the wait list, I will immediately open another class.

If your spot is confirmed, and as long as the spot fills prior to the start of class, you will receive a full refund. If the spot does not fill, then you will receive a credit towards another class to be used within 6 months of the start of the class initially signed up for.

Payment for your class will be requested when enrollment is high enough. Your slot is NOT confirmed until full payment is received.

Class may be cancelled for low enrollment. I do not collect payment for class until I have the minimum enrollment signed up.

If a session is cancelled due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances, an alternate date and time will be scheduled.

Missed classes are typically very difficult to make up. I try to do all I can to help you make that class time up, but it is not always possible. I do not offer any guarantees or refunds in the event that I cannot accommodate you.

Brand new to the studio students 16 yrs or older who sign up for a future class will have the option of taking a onetime private glazing lesson. Pieces will be finished by the instructor (glaze choices will be picked out on their last class) for anyone who does not sign up for a future class or is under the age of 16, their. A free 1 day pass into the studio is available to anyone with experience in glazing or who had a previous private glazing lesson.

A bisque firing happens when we have enough dry pieces to fill the kiln. That generally happens one to two weeks after classes finishes. The glaze kilns run as they have enough work to fill them. Students will be notified when pieces come out of the kiln so they can make glazing appointments or pickup.

Arrangements should be made to pick up ASAP. However, I will hold pieces up to 30 days from the initial notice. After that, your pieces become the property of THE SQUARE ROSE to do as it sees fit.

Questions about Memberships

Limited monthly and annual memberships are available.

Membership includes full access into the studio 24/7 (as long as there are no classes.) One shelf space, & use of all studio tools. Clay and glazing are extra.

Yes, provided the membership is up to date and there are no classes or workshops occurring at the time. Calendar is updated regularly on the website and in the studio.

Because of the very limited amount of memberships available, we need to actively make use of every available space (especially if there is a waiting list). Priority is given to members who keep an active membership without allowing it to expire. Your code will be scheduled to be erased on the day your membership expires unless you extend prior to that time. After your membership expires, if you have not done so already, your shelf will be cleared to allow the next person to have space. You must make arrangements to collect all of your belonging within 30 days of expiration or your things will be considered the property of THE SQUARE ROSE to do with as it sees fit (usually donated back to the studio or discarded).

Daily passes are available, but only during regular gallery hours if it is open (they do not qualify for discount.)
